Wave Power is one of our largest renewable energy sources, but until very recently we lacked the technologies to take advantage of this effectively. We now have a healthy range of concepts actually up and working and generating electricity. An even greater number of very promising concepts are at the prototype stage awaiting investment before full-scale plants can be constructed and installed.

Luckily, this is a global effort and teams from many countries are engaged. However, certain technology and enthusiasm hot spots are emerging. Scotland has probably the widest range of companies, research departments and collaborative forums dedicated to obtaining technological and commercial success. This is well focused effort as Scotland's west coast has one of the largest wave resources anywhere in the world.
