Job Description

An excellent opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Electrical Wind Service Engineer within the service department to be based from the Regional service centre in Dumfries covering wind farm sites in the Dumfries area. There will be daily travel to the service centre location and to wind farm sites in the geographical area. It is essential that candidates live within maximum 1 hour's drive from the service centre location due to a requirement for participation in an on-call rota system.

The Role

- The Service Engineer will carry out maintenance and fault finding on wind turbines as directed by the Operations Manager with assistance from the local Team Leader to ensure maximum turbine availability to the customer
- Follow up errors and repair faults to maximise turbine availability for customers
- Perform preventative maintenance according to service manual and carry out other maintenance as required to ensure turbines run to specification and meet manufacturers' warranties
- Assist the Technical Support Manager and Operations Manager to analyse faults and establish solutions to maximise turbine availability
- Work with Team Leader, Site Manager and Health and Safety Adviser to carry out all work in a safe manner in accordance with the company and UK HSE standarsds, Wind Turbine Safety Rules and legislation
- Participate in all Health & Safety Training, including First Aid, to enable emergency response assistance for colleagues when difficulties arise

The Candidate

- Experience of servicing and maintaining heavy electrical industrial plant and equipment is essential eg. Motors, generators, 3 phase electrical systems (some knowledge and experience of mechanical rotating plant is advantageous)
- ONC / HNC level or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.
- Ideally have experience of Method Statement and Risk Assessments production and use in the workplace
- Working knowledge of UK Health and Safety regulations would be advantageous
- Full current driving license
- Excellent team working ability to work in a small two man team
- Ability to work at heights in remote locations often in adverse weather conditions
- High level of physical fitness and ability to climb wind turbines on a daily basis
