Junior Design Engineer – Building System Design; Epsom, Surrey, UK; competitive salary in range of £22,500 to £27,500 per annum

One of the UK’s leading providers of full-service packages for Communal/District Heating systems is currently looking to expand with the addition of a junior member to their team.

Join the company in the role of a Junior Building Systems Design Engineer and work on some of the most exciting residential and commercial projects in the District Heating sector.

The role

As a Junior Engineer, your responsibilities will be fairly broad, but will revolve around the design work for residential, commercial and industrial heating networks, as well as heat interface units.

You will work alongside senior members of the technical team, and will carry out initial building surveys, prepare tenders and produce design schematics from scratch, within time and budget scales.

Finally, you will also be able to communicate effectively with clients or other members of the staff and will strive to work up to standard in all manners pertaining to the company’s activities.

The person

We are on the lookout for a smart, bright and eager graduate with at least a year of similar experience, ideally in the same capacity and sector.

You are most definitely an Engineer by academic background, either Mechanical or Electrical, and are familiar with various design and IT solutions, relevant to the nature of the role – AutoCAD is a must.

A strong ability to deliver, as well as adherence to the company’s guidelines and client’s expectations are key to succeeding in the role, as well as a friendly demeanour and a degree of commercial savviness.


  • Mechanical/Electrical BEng
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • AutoCAD is a must
  • Prior knowledge of Building System Design
  • General familiarity with the UK District Heating scheme
  • Above average IT skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Eligible to work in the UK


  • Prior experience with Communal/District Heating projects
  • General familiarity with UK Building Regulations


A competitive salary package is on offer for the right candidate, in the range of £22,500 - £27,500 per annum, with some flexibility possible for those who can add something more to the table.
