Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke electro-mechanical technology for use in a wide range of industries.
They sell their products globally and house their Research and Development, Manufacturing and Product Marketing team in Southampton, Hampshire.
They need to recruit a new Manufacturing Engineering Manager, an ideal opportunity for someone to be trained in and take a lead role in lean manufacturing methodologies at a time when they're bringing key new products into volume production.
This is a key role with significant influence over strategy and company performance. You'll be managing / leading a team of Product and Process Engineers / Technicians and it's key that you've got strong people management experience.
What you'll be doing! Providing highly responsive and expert day to day production support covering process, product, test and mechanical engineering. Driving and providing leadership in the fields of Lean Manufacturing and New Product Introduction. Managing 20 Engineers and Technicians. Guiding Continuous Improvement through Lean Methods across the business. Co-ordinating day to day production support and balancing across NPI. Developing new production processes and equipment. Capital equipment and general budget management. Key member of the New Product Introduction team, driving Design for Manufacture.
What you'll need for this position! 12 years + Industrial experience. A proven track record managing production support in complex environments while driving continuous improvement. 5 years + Engineering management experience. Experience developing and coaching Engineers across multiple disciplines.
Additional really helpful but non essential experience! Experience in Lean Implementation. Good knowledge of VSM, DMAIC, SPC, PDCA, Operational IT Systems (ERP, PDM etc)
