O&M Electrician - Solar PV, home-based in Cambridgeshire, package circa £30,000 + company car/allowance

A leading international provider of solar farm services are ramping up for expansion in light of their growing portfolio of projects in the UK.

This is a great opportunity for a solar PV trained and qualified electrician to join a respected business and hone their skills in servicing low-voltage and large scale solar systems in a friendly but professional environment.

The role

The O&M Technician will be responsible for carrying out the preventive and reactive maintenance on commercial to large scale solar PV plants across their designated jurisdiction.

You will be responsible for carrying out routine inspections, reacting to sudden alerts, conducting thorough fault finding and repairs, and ensuring the solar system is operating up to full efficiency.

Finally, you will have to log your daily work, report to management on the condition of the plants and assist with rectification work.

The person

The right candidate will be a qualified electrician with prior experience on solar PV systems of mid-to-large scale size. You will have 17th edition electrician's qualification, as well as any additional courses in Inspection & Testing.

You will have prior experience, either in servicing or installation of electrical equipment on solar PV - inverters, cables; you will be familiar with DC electrical systems.

Finally, you will be capable of working independently and be able to report adequately on any manners pertaining to your day-to-day work. This is an important hire, so the right attitude is key.


  • 17th edition BS7671 wiring regulations
  • Prior experience on Solar PV (bigger than 100 kW)
  • Good knowledge of inverters - string/central
  • IT Competence
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, fiber-optics
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Eligible to work in the UK
