Job Description

Our client is one of the UK's leading and most recognised tidal energy systems innovators within the Renewables market and are looking to hire a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This position is based in Louth Ireland and pays a competitive salary of £60,000 per annum + bonus scheme, pension and other company benefits and annual leave.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer duties and responsibilities;
* Design and development of the mechanical components of turbine controls. This includes design of internal and external cooling systems, electrical component skid, cabling connectors and hydraulic systems.
* All component design to be performed using 3D CAD with the design output as drawings.
* Definition of mechanical components within the turbine and/or control system.
* Assist the manufacturing & procurement department during construction of turbine systems.
* Ensure that all design work is performed as defined within Quality Management System (QMS).
* Lead and challenge design reviews.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer desired experience;
* Mechanical Engineering Degree (Third level honours degree or equivalent).
* 10+ years relevant industrial experience within a mechanical engineering design team.
* Electrical systems experience. Packaging of complex electro mechanical systems, including cabling, connectors and hydraulic systems.
* Excellent 3D CAD skills; preferably SolidWorks (Pro/E Creo/Catia or similar 3D modelling package).
* Ability to work in a cross discipline environment - electrical, industrialisation, projects, software, R&D etc.
* Ability to produce hand calculations to back up designs and carry out "sanity checks" on FEA results.
* FEA experience (preferably ANSYS).
* SAP and/or PDM experience. Knowledge of documentation for manufacture.
